Should you restart for 1.0?

What did the developers actually say?

The official FAQ answers this one directly, and it is worth quoting the substance rather than paraphrasing it loosely.

No new save is needed. All saves carry through to 1.0. Whatever your progress in Mistria, you can experience all of the new content.

That covers the whole question for most players. Two years of Early Access progress is not wasted.

Will an old save lock you out of anything?

No. The new systems are gated on in-game progress, not on when the file was created.

Marriage needs 10 hearts and Floor 100 of the mines. Children need a wedding. The town repair questline needs town rank. An Early Access save that already meets those conditions is closer to the new content than a fresh one, not further from it.

If anything, an established save reaches the 1.0 material faster.

Then why would anyone restart?

There is exactly one reason, and it comes from the patch notes rather than the FAQ.

Achievements unlock retroactively when you load an existing save, filling in based on that save's data. If you would rather earn them in order, from zero, the only way to do that is to start a new file.

That is a preference, not a fix. Nothing is broken either way.

Does the price or the platform change anything?

No. The studio confirmed the price would not rise at 1.0, and it did not.

Console versions are not out. The official answer is that they are focused on the PC release of 1.0 and will evaluate ports later.

Is more content coming after 1.0?

Yes. The developers said they plan to keep shipping content updates and patches after 1.0, and two patches landed within days of launch.

Version 1.0.1 arrived on 6 August and 1.0.2 on 8 August, both bug and crash fixes plus quality of life changes.

So there is no argument for waiting to start. The game is not in a holding pattern.

What should you check before jumping back in?

Look at where your save already sits against the three gates above. If you are nowhere near Floor 100, that is the longest job in front of you, because it blocks marriage entirely.

If you were already deep in the mines and had a romance running, you may be one or two sessions away from the wedding content.

What if your save looks wrong after updating?

Check the achievements page before assuming anything is broken. A very low global unlock percentage right after launch is normal, not a bug, and it confused several players in the first week.
