What is new in Fields of Mistria 1.0?

What are the headline additions?

The patch notes list these first, and they are the reason most people came back.

Marriage and wedding events arrived, along with children. The NPC heart cap rose from 8 to 10, and 10 Heart proposal events were added for every candidate. The town repair questline can now be completed, and the Renown cap rose to 100.

Steam achievements were added, 69 of them, and they unlock retroactively on existing saves.

Who is new in town?

Stillwell and Zorel, both at the Saturday Market, unlocked by the Expanding the Saturday Market quest.

Stillwell does not sell anything. He posts monster slaying missions on a board beside his stall, and each one you finish rewards a Monster set furniture recipe.

Zorel sells Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals, which let you change the music that plays on your farm and in the rooms of your house.

What else changed in gameplay?

Quite a lot, and several of these are easy to miss.

You can now kiss anyone you are dating, engaged to, or married to. Taking someone on a date raises their heart level more than it used to. The exterior of your house can be customised once it is fully upgraded, unlocked by a letter from Landen.

Seven new perks arrived across cooking, ranching and woodcrafting. A combat perk called Friend-Shaped makes every monster drop a pet skin that changes how your pet looks. The Big Chicken mount was added. A new Friday Night at the Inn storyline opens after you finish the mines.

The museum can be completed, with two new sets: Honey and Terrarium Treasures.

Which languages does it support now?

Seven beta localisations were added: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish.

They are explicitly beta. The studio said Simplified Chinese was around 75% complete at launch, and any missing text falls back to English until it is finished.

Did performance improve?

Yes, noticeably. The patch notes call out substantial performance improvements and say VRAM use was cut by more than half, which should help older machines.

A startup error that stopped the game launching on certain old PCs was also fixed.

What has been patched since launch?

Two updates, both quickly.

Version 1.0.1 landed on 6 August with bug and crash fixes. Version 1.0.2 followed on 8 August with more fixes plus quality of life changes, including a repair for the Time Flies achievement and a fix that stops players glitching into the Bell Tower before unlocking it.

Is more content planned?

Yes. The studio said they plan to keep releasing content updates and patches after 1.0, and signed the patch notes off by saying 1.0 is only the beginning.

Console versions have not been announced. The official line is that they are focused on PC for now and will look at ports later.

Do you need to start over to see any of this?

No. Every save carries through, and all of the above is reachable on an Early Access file.
