How do you reach Town Rank 100?

What does Town Rank 100 give you?

The rank itself is called Mistril Star Rank, and reaching Level 100 awards a Large Essence Stone.

The last level alone costs 356 Renown, on top of everything before it. The cumulative figure for the whole climb is 18,006.

1.0 also added a Mistril Town Rank event that fires at the top of the ladder.

Where does Renown come from?

Three sources: donating to the museum, shipping goods, and completing quests.

Town repair quests are the largest single payments. Ten of the twelve give 20 Renown each, and the last two, Expanding the Saturday Market and Repair the Bell Tower, give 50 each.

What unlocks at each rank?

The ladder gates a lot of the game's mid and late content, which is the practical reason to care about it at all.

Diamond 90 is the one that matters most if you are working towards finishing the town, because it is the gate on the final repair quest.

How rare is Town Rank 100 really?

Rare enough that the Steam figures are worth quoting directly.

Two things follow from those numbers. The drop-off between Gold and Diamond is where most players stop, and almost nobody who reaches Diamond fails to go on and finish the Bell Tower.

Did 1.0 change any of this?

Yes. The Town Renown cap was raised to 100 in the 1.0 update, so the Mistril Star Rank did not exist before it.

The patch notes also mention new Town Rank Quests added specifically to guide players who already had progress, rather than making them work out where they were in the ladder on their own.

Where did these facts come from?
