How do 10 Heart Events work?

What changed in 1.0?

Before 1.0 the heart cap sat at 8. The update raised it to 10 and attached a proposal event to that final level.

Each of the 12 marriage candidates has one. Reaching 10 hearts with someone you are dating is what makes Elsie deliver the Engagement Ring recipe the following morning.

Taking a partner on a date also raises hearts faster than it used to, which shortens the climb.

Can you see every 10 Heart Event in one save?

Yes, and this is stated outright in the official patch notes.

You can date every candidate, watch every proposal scene, and collect every special item, because 10 Heart Events can be retriggered with the Engagement Ring right up until you choose to propose and become engaged.

Once you accept an engagement, that window closes. So if you want the full set, see everyone first and commit last.

Why won't the event trigger even at 10 hearts?

The most common cause is mine progress, not a bug.

A player reported waiting more than two in-game weeks at 8 hearts with nothing happening. The developer answered directly on Steam: you need to have unlocked the fire mines before March's 8-heart cutscene will fire. A second thread reached the same conclusion.

So heart level alone does not drive these scenes. Story progress underneath them has to be far enough along.

Two other causes are worth checking. Most heart events require you to have already watched that character's earlier ones, so skipping ahead does not work. And Caldarus and Seridia follow their own rules, with extra story requirements before their events unlock.

What if you chose Best Friends instead?

Then the romance route is closed for that character.

The relationship branches at the 8-heart event, where you either continue romantically or settle into a platonic Best Friends route. Only the romantic branch leads to a proposal.

How do dates fit in?

Dates open up at 8 hearts once you have finished that character's heart quest. You can only invite someone out on a Saturday or Sunday, and only once per week each.

You can date several people at the same time. You can only marry one of them.

What do you get out of the event?

A special item, handed over during the cutscene before the game asks whether you want to propose.

These proposal items cannot be obtained any other way, and each candidate has their own. Most of them restore energy when you interact with them after placing them, which is not what the wiki's description suggests.
